LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Luke Hemsworth, the oldest brother of Chris Hemsworth ("Thor," "The Avengers") and Liam Hemsworth ("The Hunger Games," "The Expendables 2"), has snagged the leading role in a crime thriller titled "The Reckoning."
Lightning Entertainment, the company handling international sales rights of the film, announced Hemsworth's casting on Monday. Hemsworth will be joined in the film by actor Jonathan LaPaglia (younger brother of actor Anthony LaPaglia).
Written and directed by John V. Soto ("Needle," "Crush"), the "Reckoning" follows a detective (Hemsworth) who discovers video footage at a murder scene which provides clues to the killer's identity. After the two teens who filmed the footage go missing, the detective uncovers a trail of deceit and murder that leads all the way back to him.
Robert Lundberg, Greg Coote, David Calvert-Jones, Roger Savill and Kim Savill will executive produce the film. Producer Deidre Kitcher says the thriller is "best described as 'Memento' meets 'Kalifornia.'"
Principal photography for "The Reckoning" begins at the end of April in Australia.
