Residents and business owners can return to south Plaquemines ...

Plaquemines Parish sheriff's deputies will escort residents and business owners back to their property on the west bank of the southern?end of the parish tomorrow morning, according to a news release.

The police escorts to areas affected by Hurricane Isaac will take place between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. Those who want to leave the southern end of the parish?can do so between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The escorts will take place on the Mississippi River levee. During the day, parish officials will be on the levee to make sure nobody tries to make the journey on their own.

Residents should bring proof of their residency, while business owners and workers should will need credentials to get through road blocks. The convoy will start at the road block on Highway 23.

A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center was established at the Belle Chasse Auditorium at 8398 Highway 23. It will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily. Residents can register for individual assistance there or call 1.800.621.FEMA or www.disasterassistance.gov.
