SALARY:
This is a twelve-month academic librarian appointment; salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Standard state benefits of annual leave, sick leave, and State or optional retirement plan. QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:? ALA-accredited master?s degree in library or information science.? Strong public service orientation and experience providing user-centered reference service, online and in-person.? Experience with web design (HTML and CSS), instructional technology, and Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent multimedia authoring software.? Knowledge of emerging instructional technologies.? Experience providing library or technology instruction. Strong written and oral communication skills.? Self-motivated, with strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration.? Commitment to supporting a diverse student and faculty population.
Preferred:? Previous work experience in an undergraduate library/setting.? Experience with collection development.
DUTIES:
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented individual for the role of Research and Design Services Librarian. Working with a team of librarians at the Undergraduate Library (http://www.lib.unc.edu/house/), this individual will help shape the provision of research and technology services geared towards the undergraduate population. The successful candidate will develop public services for the Reference Desk and Design Lab, explore technologies supporting undergraduate education, and participate in instruction and outreach initiatives.
The Research and Design Services Librarian will lead the day to day activities of Reference Desk and Design Lab (a multi-media lab supporting scanning services and the creation of digital design projects), deliver instruction on design software and research methods, work closely with colleagues to evaluate current services, and recommend, design, and implement user-centered research and technology services.? The successful candidate will contribute to the development of online instructional materials, such as tutorials, course guides, and other instructional tools. The individual in this position will actively supervise and mentor graduate student employees from the School of Information and Library Science and participate in collection development activities for the Undergraduate Library.
The Research and Design Services Librarian reports to the Head of the R. B. House Undergraduate Library.
