{Party Planning} Little Cupcake Baby Shower

Those who follow ABP on Facebook already know about the Little Cupcake Baby Shower that I was honored to help a family friend plan. My assigned tasks were to design the invitations (& other printables) and full set up of the candy buffet. I was over the moon excited about the party theme. Cupcakes, pink and orange? Yes, please!

I have to preface this by stating that though graphic design might be a strong suit, I?m not a particularly good photographer nor a professional party stylist! However, all in all ? I think everything came out really cute. The family/friends loved it. The Mommy-to-be was radiantly happy. Now that?s what really matters, right? That being said, I really do think I need to invest in a better camera (and maybe some photography classes) :)

I designed the invitation, address labels, envelope seals, thank you notes, etc. and sourced out the printing. We were more than satisfied with the quality and relieved to not have to print/cut them ourselves (70+ invitations, yikes!).

Below are just a few elements of the party/candy buffet. There is much more that was not captured, like all of the activity stations we set up. We had a onesie decorating station, coloring station and much more! I assure you ? no detail was left behind. With all of the girls who came together to work on this baby shower, it was way cute and color-coordinated to the hilt! I only wish I had more photos to show you. Unfortunately, in true Angela form ? every single shot on my camera came out blurry, so I?m relying mostly on photos taken by others. Let?s not blame the margaritas for the blurry pictures, mmkay? I?m convinced my camera just sucks and it?s totally NOT operator error :)

Custom crayon boxes and coloring sheets

The coloring sheets were designed in half-sheet size, with pre-punched holes on the top. That way, we could collect all of the finished sheets and string them through ribbon/twine to create a sweet banner for display.

This is one of the only non-blurry shots I took (and yet I still managed to cut the top off). The top is an adorable ?cupcake? made out of custom cupcake wrappers and washclothes. There was even a ?cherry? on top. Stupid camera?. ;) I can?t take credit for these, Tiff?s fabulous girlfriends made these diaper cakes for all of the tables. So freakin? cute, I could?ve died.

I so wish I could?ve moved that wrought-iron sun. Actually had something else planned to go there, but? 1.) it wasn?t my house, 2.) that sucker was HEAVY, 3.) pretty sure it would have left a mark behind.

To save resources on the candy bars, I opted to wrap them in coordinating scrapbook paper. Then designed/printed little labels to wrap around them using full sheet label paper. (Thanks to my friends at WorldLabel for sending me these!). We needed 60 candy bars. So instead of the typical printing/cutting of 30 sheets of fully designed candy bar wrappers, I used just 5 sheets of label paper. Much easier, less ink, a lot less time! Plus they looked great and stood up well to the freezing/unfreezing of the bars ? which had to travel to another city in the ridic Arizona heat!

Other matching items designed/printed by me (not shown):

  • Gift log
  • Pennant banners
  • The ?Name Game? chart and name tags
  • Answer sheets (for games)
  • Welcome/table signs
  • Cupcake toppers
  • Treat bag labels

Of course, in true perfectionist fashion, every jar/container/basket related to the shower was decorated and labeled to match. It was like pink & orange threw up all over that party. LOVED IT!

Good times! Now on to the next project?
